It's Salty

Directed by PHILLIP NOYCE
Starring ANGELINA JOLIE, LIEV SCHREIBER,
and CHIWETEL EJIOFOR

Salt: I preface this by saying that I'm not a big Angelina Jolie fan, but this is a great movie.  It's a familiar formula--secret Russian spies, double agents, assassinations, intrigue, etc, but there's a right way to do a formulaic spy thriller and then there's the wrong way.  Salt does it the right way and it does it well.

There's Inception and Then...There's Everything Else

Directed by CHRISTOPHER NOLAN
Starring LEONARDO DICAPRIO, ELLEN PAGE,
JOSEPH GORDON-LEVITT, KEN WATANABE, CILLIAN MURPHY,
TOM HARDY, DILEEP RAO,  and MARION COTILLARD

Inception: This is by far the most amazing film I have seen this year and in many years.  It's on it's own level.  Wholly unique, fresh, stunning, with fantastic performances.  For me, Joseph Gordon-Levitt stole the show in every scene he was in.  '3rd Rock' who???

Gee Wilikers! Eureka's 2010 Premiere.

If you are not watching 'Eureka,' then you need to. The premiere of season 4 took us back to the swinging 40's where we get to meet another fantastic mad scientist Dr. Trevor Grant (played perfectly by James Callis). However, time travel has its consequences. What I love about this show is that the timeline changes and that's that. There's nothing they can do. A different show would have tried to "fix" the timeline, not 'Eureka.' Eureka is officially the best show on tv...at least during the summer. And it's a show that the whole family can watch. To boot this season Gais Baltar has joined the cast. How great is that?

Predators Review

Directed by NIMROD ANTAL
Starring ADRIEN BRODY, ALICE BRAGA, WALTON GOGGINS,
LAURENCE FISHBURNE, and DANNY TREJO.

Predators: If you love the Predator franchise (not to be confused with the Alien/Predator franchise, which frankly sucks), then you'll love this movie. This film is clearly one big homage to the original (and still the best) 'Predator' film.  And like too much frosting, they lay on the homages really thick, but it works. The filmmakers manage to update, while at the same time, follow the first film's winning formula.
