Snow White & the Huntsman Review: Twilight, Meet Medieval Times!

Snow White and the Huntsman (By Alicexz, Deviant Art)
SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN
Directed by RUPERT SANDERS
Starring CHARLIZE THERON, KRISTEN STEWART, and CHRIS HEMSWORTH

Once upon a time there was a classic tale with good actors, stunning visuals, a terrible script, and an inexperienced director. Out of this mythical mixture came Snow White and the Huntsman. The latter two ingredients spoil the batch. Similar to most bad movies, the writer and the director should bear the brunt of the blame, but this film may also be a victim of its own marketing. The promoters of Snow White and the Huntsman pumped excessively high expectations and millions of dollars into television spots, trailers, snippets, and images. Perhaps the marketers promised more than first-time director Rupert Sanders could deliver.

Rutro! Ryan Reynolds The New Highlander?

Somewhere a highlander fan is weeping. Variety is reporting that Ryan Reynolds is being serioulsy considered to step into the higlander's role and not lose his head. Highlander is the epic 1986 fantasy film starring Christopher Lambert, Sean Connery, and Clancy Brown, about a race of sword wielding immortals who could only die if you took their heads.

When Good Aliens Go Bad: Battleship Review

BATTLESHIP
Directed by PETER BERG
Starring TAYLOR KITSCH, ALEXANDER SKARSGARD, LIAM NEESON,
BROOKLYN DECKER, and RIHANNA

It's obscenely poetic when filmmakers can turn a children's game about naval strategy into an alien invasion extravaganza. Thus, it's only natural to be skeptical of Director Peter Berg's attempt to morph the beloved Hasbro game into 'Transformers-Lite,' and rightfully so. After all, Battleship is painfully underwritten, overtly predictable, and flawed. That said, Battleship is also incredibly entertaining and energetic. Battleship is a "popcorn movie" in the truest sense--otherwise known as a fun-filled box of summer fun not meant to be taken seriously.

Another Member Of The Secret Zombie Horde Identified

Sylvester Stallone in Raphael's masterpiece (Photo: Everett Collection)
Anthony Zonfrell, 20, visited Vatican City and successfully identified Sylvester Stallone in one of Raphael's masterpieces. As you recall last fall, Nicholas Cage was positively identified as a member of the undead. If you happen upon any of these creatures or their feature films, do not speak to them or try to make polite conversation. Most importantly, do not suffer to watch their movies or you will turn to stone. Lastly, just run.

The Rise of Felicia Day

Perhaps I'm late in acknowledging this, but Felicia Day has officially replaced Summer Glau as sci-fi's latest "it" girl. Summer was/is my favorite, so I was hesitant to give Day her due. But the quirky Day has met this sci-fi geek's burden of proof and is a household name (at least in my circle of friends).
