Blue as Folk

Directed by JAMES CAMERON
Starring SAM WORTHINGTON, SIGOURNEY WEAVER,
STEPHEN LANG, and ZOE SALDANA

If you've seen 'Fern Gully' and 'Dances with Wolves,' then you've seen 'Avatar.' 'Avatar' is beautiful. Visually it's like nothing you've ever seen before. However, the story was boilerplate. There was nothing particularly interesting about it.

It's definitely worth viewing, but it's formulaic at best, unoriginal at worst. The effects are second to none though. The effects in this film are breathtaking. James Cameron is at his best in that regard. Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, Zoe Zaldana, and Giovannia Ribsi all deliver fine performances, but Stephen Lang steals every scene with his fighting-man performance. Stephen Lang is such a fantastic actor that you almost forget that he's acting.

Edit: This film has become the biggest movie of all time, but seeing it once was enough for me.

THREE OUT OF FIVE STARS

  1. Man I thought I was the only person who didn't consider Avatar the best movie ever made. I completely agree that we've seen the same plot hundreds of times and that the reason to see the film is the visuals.

I had no problems with it not winning the Oscar for Best Picture.
