TO DELETE OR NOT TO DELETE,? KILLJOYS THE NEXT FIREFLY,? THOUGHTS ON THE ALL-FEMALE GHOSTBUSTERS,? TOO MUCH JURASSIC CRAP + MORE

I was recently inspired to clean up my blog and delete old posts after reading articles over at Nose Graze and Elembee. I was always one of those people in the camp of "NEVER" deleting old posts. I wanted other bloggers to see my blogging evolution over the years, no matter how embarrassing. However, their articles made me curious. My blog was originally a place I posted random rants, and my love of film. When I started reviewing all of my old work I quickly realized that my early work was not very good. In fact I sucked. Some of my earliest posts were painful to read because not only were some posts poorly written, but they were short, with ill-fitting graphics.

Nicki Minaj as Spiderwoman, American Horror Story Returns, Terminator Sequels or Reboots + More

Spiderwoman variant cover in comparison to Spiderman via Bleeding Cool
Whew, this has been a whirlwind month. I've had a family emergency, a series of illnesses, and started graduate school all in the same month, so blogging hasn't been at the forefront of my mind. Seriously, I need to apologize to Ryan over at the Matinee. I haven't done a Blind Spot in months. But alas, I've kept a mental tally of everything that piqued my interest over the last few weeks.

Gotham is Nitty Gritty?| Batgirl Gets New Duds| Drunks Play Street Fighter + More

I'm sure you've noticed that I've made some website changes. I'm using a new template and I'm lovin' the new look. I hope you are too. It's a lot cleaner and simpler. Simple is always good. I'm still in the process of working out the gremlins, so if you notice any bugs please send me an email. Thanks!

"Meh" to AMC, Yay for Apes, Dr. Who World Tour, Geek News, + Cool Stuff

Over the last few years AMC has gotten a lot of press for their creative television shows--mostly good. I've been actively watching 'The Walking Dead' since its inception and I've also read all of the comics. So I'm typically excited when AMC develops a new show. As a geek and a history buff, I'm drawn to shows like 'Halt and Catch Fire' and 'Turn.' I'm also drawn to watch anything with Lee Pace or Jamie Bell. So in that regard, AMC has effectively fooled me, not once but twice this year. First with 'Turn' and now with 'Halt and Catch Fire.'

Agent Carter News, Jupiter Ascending Postponed, Cosplay + More

I'm sure that everyone has heard by now that 'Agent Carter' with Haley Atwell is a go! Yay for Hayley. I'm super excited for this show. Atwell just revealed that Howard Stark himself (Dominic Cooper as seen above bottom right) will also be reprising his role from 'Captain America: The First Avenger' and will be joining her on the new series.

Tom Cruise as Tom Cruise...again, Khal Drogo as Lobo, & She-Hulk Diss

When watching a preview of the new Tom Cruise film, 'Edge of Tomorrow,' I'm reminded that Cruise essentially plays the same character in every movie. Cruise is one of the most typecasted actors. If Cruise is in a film, one thing can be guaranteed-- his character is a strong-willed, moral, yet troubled man, down on his luck, but has the will to overcome, blah blah blah. It doesn't leave a lot of room for creativity.

The crazy thing is that Cruise is actually a good actor. His roles in 'Interview with the Vampire' and 'Rock of Ages' are proof of that. So why doesn't Cruise challenge himself more? I know that he's an a-lister, but similar a-list actors have had much more diverse careers. I for one would like to see Cruise stretch himself in films like 'Collateral.' My favorite Cruise role continues to be 'Interview.' Given Cruise's career trajectory that's not likely to change. I guess we should be thankful, at least he's not pulling a "Nick Cage."

New Godzilla Poster, Jurassic Park Reboot, Falling Skies Returns + Cosplay

The new 'Godzilla' poster looks awesome. Almost as awesome as the Japanese trailer for it. Of course the Japanese trailer would be even better than the one I posted a few days ago. This trailer is a little different as it features the incredible Ken Watabe ('Batman' and 'Inception'). This man is so cool.

'Rosemary's Baby' Remake, GoTs Exhibit, Wonder Woman Shoes! + Links

Bleeding Cool
Ok, I'm working on some really great posts, but I haven't quite finished them yet, so in the meantime, I'm going to recap 'My Favorite Things' today...again. I've just seen so many great things lately!

Zoe Saldana is the new Mia Farrow in the made for television remake of 'Rosemary's Baby.' You know I like Zoe Saldana, but I don't know how to feel about this one. I'm not a Mia Farrow fan, but this goes into that (very plentiful) category of: DID THIS REALLY NEED TO BE REMADE? 'Rosemary's Baby' is a classic horror film, like 'Carrie.' Which was also (unsuccessfully)  remade last year. You can see my take on last year's 'Carrie' here. I of course will still watch it. Patrick J. Adams of 'Suits' plays Rosemary's dastardly husband in this version. It will be a four-part mini-series, which seems a little long to me. Ok. I really need to stop complaining. Moving on...

Peter Capaldi, Cosmos Returns, GoTs Photos, Anne Rice, & A Killer Cat

Ok, I've seen a bunch of stuff today that doesn't necessarily deserve it's own blog post, but the combination of all of these things, certainly deserves a blog post. These are things that made me say yay today!

Peter Capaldi, Peter Capaldi, Peter Capaldi. Some folks may not know why people are so excited about Capaldi as 'Doctor Who,' but Capaldi has been a longtime character actor and he's a huge 'Doctor Who' fan. He's quite popular in some circles and there's nothing better than a true 'Doctor Who' fan, playing 'Doctor Who.' This is always a plus.

Jurassic Park with Cats + Links

We Are Camera Studio
What if  the velociraptors running around the kitchen in 'Jurassic Park' were actually cats. Well, then you'd have a fun video to watch. Yes, you do. This is just after Jeff Goldblum's laugh from 'Jurassic Park' was appropriately auto-tuned. In other 'Jurassic Park' news Deadline reports that Vincent D'Onofrio will be the non-dinosaur villain in the next 'Jurassic Park' film reboot, 'Jurassic World.' Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard will also costar.

'Doctor Who' Goodies

See Website
This week has been a busy 'Doctor Who' goodie week. I have come across three separate 'Doctor Who'-themed items that I just had to share! I've previously posted about a 'Doctor Who' bookcase, a 'Doctor Who' refrigerator (to keep your fish fingers and custard cold), a collapsible Tardis, and 'Doctor Who' miniatures. Today's 'Doctor Who' goodie is a Tardis Vortex door. I've seen lots of Tardis doors--too many in fact, but what makes this one unique is the painted vortex, which adds that extra flair.

I love cosplay. I love Dr. Who even more. So the combination of the two=awesome! Little Katie is too cute with her Dr. Who cosplay. In honor of the soon to come 50th anniversary, her dad Todd dressed her up as all 11 of the Doctors! See the rest here. Note: Neither Katie or her father are in any way related to me, but they seem to be a really cool family! Enjoy and Happy Halloween!

Build Your Own Tardis?

Thirdhandworks.com
I'm a sucker for a tardis. You can stick a tardis on just about anything and I'll think it's cool. Which is why I greatly admire those who can build and create things with wood. Unfortunately, I am not one of them. My handyman skills are limited to paper products. Folding paper--this I can do.
