Shining Prequel?

Jack Torrance on Fan Pop
The Los Angeles Times is reporting that Warner Brothers is planning a prequel to Stanley Kubrick's classic film, 'The Shining,' starring Jack Nicholson and Shelley Duvall. The prequel will likely be based on Kubrick's film, rather than Stephen King's novel, and will chronicle the strange happenings at the Overlook Hotel prior to the Torrance family's arrival.

Tom Hanks and Halle Berry star. Image Credit: Jay Maidment
According to Entertainment Weekly, the Wachowskis are bringing 'Cloud Atlas' to the big screen. 'Cloud Atlas' is David Mitchell's brainy scifi novel about six intersecting storylines set over 1,000 years. The material is amazing so hopefully the Wachowskis won't mess it up.

Sad Day At The Movies

Century Theater in Aurora, Colorado
Today is truly a sad day at the movies. My original post was going to be a snarky commentary on the obscene and constant promotion of 'The Dark Knight Rises,' but today that hardly feels appropriate. As a film buff, I've spent countless hours in cold, dark movie theaters. Too many hours. Going to the movies is supposed to be safe, fun, and imaginative. It's not supposed to be tragic.

Thanks SyFy! So fans were forced to say goodbye to their favorite mad scientists and "common-sense" sheriff in a rushed last episode.

Feel free to disagree with me. I won't take it personally and you shouldn't either.

The list just goes on and on. See his obituary in the Los Angeles Times.
