Phantom Menace Re-Released In 3D? Why?

If you haven't seen Star Wars: Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace a million times already, you'll soon be given a chance. I for one, don't get it. Essentially the proportions listed in the photo below are correct. They are beating a dead horse aren't they? Episode 1 isn't even one of the better movies. The best thing in that movie was the fight at the end between the two jedis (played by Liam Neeson/Ewan McGregor) and Darth Maul (Ray Park). I don't know, I guess George Lucas needs to replenish the war chest.

Weekend Movie Picks

THE GREY
Directed by JOE CARNAHAN
Starring LIAM NEESON, FRANK GRILLO,
DERMOT MULRONEY, and DALLAS ROBERTS

The Grey
I like doing weekend movie picks. To me it's the equivalent of "Eat This, Not That." This weekend you should be dining on The Grey. The Grey is the new survival film starring Liam Neeson. Due to the inappropriate marketing, some moviegoers may mistake The Grey for a man versus nature action flick, but thankfully for the audience, The Grey is so much more than that. The Grey is a gripping story of survival and is gut wrenchingly emotional. Another thing that distinguishes The Grey from other survival films before it, is the visceral performance of Liam Neeson.

Build Your Own Tardis?

Thirdhandworks.com
I'm a sucker for a tardis. You can stick a tardis on just about anything and I'll think it's cool. Which is why I greatly admire those who can build and create things with wood. Unfortunately, I am not one of them. My handyman skills are limited to paper products. Folding paper--this I can do.

Weekend Movie Picks

HAYWIRE
Directed by STEVE SODERBERGH
Starring GINA CARANO, MICHAEL FASSBENDER, CHANNING TATUM,
EWAN MCGREGOR, ANTONIO BANDERAS, and MICHAEL DOUGLAS

So who's the toughest chic on the block this week? Kate Beckinsale is fun to watch in the Underworld franchise, but she's no Gina Carano. Mind you, I really like Kate Beckinsale. She's a great actress and a competent action star, but Gina Carano is the real deal. I don't mean to jump the proverbial scifi shark, but the non-scifi film, Haywire, was absolutely stunning.

FIVE FILMS BASED ON REAL-LIFE UFO INCIDENTS

The UFO Incident”: This 1975 made-for-TV movie was based on the Betty and Barney Hill abduction. Living in rural New Hampshire at the time, Betty and Barney Hill claimed to have been abducted by aliens on September 19, 1961. According to the Hills, they were driving home on Route 3 when they saw a large, brightly lit object in the sky, which proceeded to follow them and descend on their car. As they tried to escape they soon realized that they had mysteriously traveled 35 miles and lost approximately two hours of time. They eventually discover their "lost time" through regressive hypnosis.

Teenagers From Outerspace

This is the kind of film that I would normally run from: teenagers, superpowers, hormones gone wild, etc. Where's the door? But for some reason Chronicle piqued my curiosity. Chronicle is directed by first-time director, Josh Trank and written by Max Landis (John Landis' son) on a shoe-string budget (for a modern film), $15 million. The film format appears to be "found footage." Haven't seen that one before, have you?

Titan Shrugged

I'm sure you've heard about the new sequel to Clash of the Titans, aptly titled, Wrath of the Titans. I don't know why anything surprises me anymore, but I'm a little surprised when a 3D monstrosity like Clash of the Titans (2010) gets greenlit for a sequel. After all, the 1981 classic film with Harry Hamlin and bad claymation was just fine, thank you very much.
