Happy May I guess. It's been tough. The global Coronavirus pandemic has changed everything. In the states, we've lost 100,000 people in less than four months. It's an absolute nightmare. It's hard to think about anything entertainment related when there's so much suffering going on. I'm hoping things get better soon.

My last post was a review about 'Birds of Prey' in February. It's amazing how much can change in a couple of months. If you're reading this, I hope you're well and staying safe. My family has been fortunate enough to be sheltered at home. While homeschooling my daughter and wrangling my toddler, I've been watching a lot of movies from the 90s and the early 00s. It's somewhat soothing to see what life was like before 2020.

I haven't been to the movies since February, but I hope things improve enough for a proper summer movie season. I'm hoping to support my local theater while properly socially distancing. We certainly need some good news. Most 2020 films have been delayed. Thankfully the films on my must-see list, like 'A Quiet Place II,' 'Wonder Woman 1984,' 'Lovebirds,' and 'Antebellum' will be released later this year.  'Lovebirds' has already been released on Neftlix.

Then there are some films like 'Fast and Furious 9' and 'Mission Impossible 7' that I can do without. How many Fast and Furious and Mission Impossible films do we really need? But there are some neat things going on in enetertainment news this week.

MY BEST & WORST LIST OF 2016

Whew, what a lovely five month hiatus. I'm finally posting my best and worst list for the year 2016. After this post I will probably cocoon again...popping up occasionally. Mind you I am still lurking on everyone's blogs. You may see me pop in every now and then. Although I may not update it often, this blog will continue as long as I watch films and have breath! So hopefully this blog will continue to run for a very long time...albeit intermittently.

Admittedly I have seen a good number of films this past year, but I have not have an opportunity to write about them all. The reasons why are abundant. I am in my late 30s, in grad school, have a 3 year old, a husband, and a full time job. So unfortunately this year, my blog went by the wayside.

I hope you enjoy my best and worst list for 2016. Please share with me yours, agree, or disagree with me in the comments. I look forward to reconnecting with everyone.

I preface my film list by saying that I don't necessarily qualify this list as the best films of the year. They are simply the best films I HAVE seen thus far this past year. I think 2015 was a much better year at the movies. Have I mentioned that 2016 was a bad movie year?

Happy Halloween | American Horror Story Review + Spoilers

The visage is unrelenting. I am its slave.
Edward Mordrake [to Ethel Darling] in American Horror Story

Happy Halloween scifi fans. 'American Horror Story: Freakshow' just wrapped up Halloween with a funky two-part episode, Edward Mordrake Part 1 and 2. Thankfully 'American Horror Story' always gets talented guest stars. This week's guest star was Wes Bentley ('American Beauty' and 'Interstellar'). And if the original 'Hunger Games' film didn't convince you that Bentley could rock wacky facial hair, then 'American Horror Story' will give you no doubt. Bentley plays a ghoulishly handsome, semi-corporeal ghost, Edward Mordrake, who has been summoned to haunt the 1952 freak show of Jupiter, Florida. But Edward isn't there to just haunt, he also serves as clever segue into character development. Edward compels several of the performers (who haven't received much screen time) to tell their individual tales of woe. It's a convenient plot twist, but it works.

Wonder Woman The Movie--Finally! + More

I can't believe this day has actually come. Wonder Woman is finally coming to the big screen on June 23, 2017. It's happening, it's finally happening. I just can't believe it. Yes, 2017 is a while away, but I'm just glad that it's on the books. DC Comics, you have restored my faith in comic books. I would say thank you, but the only thing I can say is "it's about time." I'm a DC fan, but I've admired how dynamic Marvel has been in recent years. For the past 40 years, DC's focus has primarily been Batman and Superman--and that's it. I'm glad DC has finally taken a page out of Marvel's playbook and cracked open their woefully underused catalog. Now Marvel can finally take a page from DC, stop making excuses, and make a 'Black Widow' film. Rant over. Now, if only DC can hire a director that is "not" Zack Synder. That is all. The full DC film schedule is listed below:

Nicki Minaj as Spiderwoman, American Horror Story Returns, Terminator Sequels or Reboots + More

Spiderwoman variant cover in comparison to Spiderman via Bleeding Cool
Whew, this has been a whirlwind month. I've had a family emergency, a series of illnesses, and started graduate school all in the same month, so blogging hasn't been at the forefront of my mind. Seriously, I need to apologize to Ryan over at the Matinee. I haven't done a Blind Spot in months. But alas, I've kept a mental tally of everything that piqued my interest over the last few weeks.

Best Scifi Movies Of 2012

Sorry, but January is a dead zone for movies and television. Everyone knows that January is the month Hollywood's for toxic waste dumping ground. Check out the NY Time's article on it. So unless it has Liam Neeson in it, I won't go see it.

Supernatural - The Real American Horror Story

Like many of my fellow bloggers, I'm a fan of horror and fantasy, in addition to science fiction. It goes without saying that I watch Supernatural. The cult favorite is currently in it's 7th season on perhaps the worst channel ever, the CW. If you need to catch up, TNT shows reruns every morning, Monday-Friday.
