Sleepy Hollow Returns, Marvel Still Dissing Black Widow, Ethan Hawke is Back in SciFi + More

The Season 2 premiere of 'Sleepy Hollow' was entertaining, but cliched. If you haven't seen 'Sleepy Hollow' yet, watch the cast try to explain the show in 30 seconds. Last September I predicted that either 'Almost Human' or 'Sleepy Hollow' would like bite the dust. I'm quite surprised that 'Sleepy Hollow' with all of its wackiness is still on the air, whereas 'Almost Human' was cancelled. Neither Karl UrbanJ.J. Abrams, nor it's savvy writing could save it.
Trailers
Ethan Hawke hasn't been in a hard scifi film since 1998's 'Gattaca,' so it's refreshing to see him in the new a timey wimey film like 'Predestination.' I'm not an Ethan Hawke fan, but if the trailer is any indication I am looking forward to seeing this film. Check it out.

Really?
Marvel had the opportunity to do a 'Black Widow' film before 'Iron Man,' but decided to pass on it because "a number of female vigilante movies came out [in 2004]," namely box office bombs like 'BloodRayne' and 'Aeon Flux.' The article also mentions 'Tomb Raider,' 'Ultraviolet,' and 'Kill Bill,' which were incredibly successful. Evidently five female-lead action films = "marketplace saturation," go figure?

News

Lucy Lawless talks about her 'Agents of Shield' role as a deep cover agent. The addition of Lawless can only help this show. Supposedly they are shaking up the cast a bit. I hope this means they're getting rid of some dead weight. 'Agents of Shield' would vastly improve with the removal of a few irritating characters.

I want that

Now this is a hoodie I would wear. Love this Wonder Woman hoodie.

Cosplay

Lovin' this Jabba the hut/Slave Leia cosplay or setup??? Not sure what to call it. Either way it's cool. It looks like this guy set this up in his garage. Very cool.

  1. Lucy Lawless should help make things interesting. I don't know, I was just excited to hear Xena was going to be on the show now. I'm hoping she'll get some good action scenes at least.

It would make sense that there will be some casting changes. I think we can safely assume that Ward isn't going to be part of the regular cast any more on account of what was revealed near the end of the previous season and considering how big a role he was in the previous season Agent Triplett could end up taking his place. They did also hint that Fitz had some serious health problems after the whole nearly suffocating in a sunken plane compartment thing, which might put him out of commission.

I suspect if Ward is to return, it's probably going to be as a villain. The less likely scenario would be for him to come back as a villain only for him to be forced to team up with the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. against a common enemy (although what would be so frightening as to warrant an alliance between Hydra and S.H.I.E.L.D. is beyond me).

    1. Hi John! I agree. I am excited to see Xena kick some butt. I liked Fitz, but Ward and Skye have to go. They were so irritating. If they make Ward a villain, that would be fine, but he needs to be a true villain, not that half baked stuff. "I'm good, no I'm bad, oh I'm good again."

  2. Oh, and I loved Ethan Hawke in Boyhood and the Before films, so I'm cool with seeing him do a science fiction movie.

    1. I think Hawke is a better actor than most people credit him for. I'm not a fan, but he's a good actor.

  3. Gattaca is one of my favourite's! Predestination looks like it is indeed timey wimey. I liked Lawless in the episode, I hope she stays on.

    1. Oh darn, I missed it. I will have to watch it on demand!

  4. I don't know what is wrong with FOX, Sleepy Hollow was interesting for about 3 episodes... then became Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I am not going to waste time on something that mimics that just change the leads, story and timeline... okay I know, but to much jibber-jabber on a show I don't watch. I would like to see a BLACK WIDOW film or a WONDER WOMAN film, in a few coming years this will be happening... these characters will be titles, but will need a little help from their friends. I gave a simple review of Agents of SHIELD on Thursday, I have concerns about the future... they too may need a little help from their friends.

    1. Ha, ha. Yes, it is kinda Buffy-like isn't it? That's probably why I like it. Oh did I already miss the Agents of Shield debut? I'll have to watch it on demand.

  5. And a shame they just killed off Lawless in the show...
The new trailer for Jupiter Ascending looks better than the first one. Releasing it next February though. That's not good.

  6. It's rough that Iron Man was made before Black Widow, but it makes sense unfortunately. Iron Man became the lynchpin of the Marvel universe and I don't think Black Widow could have done that. That said, it's love overdue and the market is ready for it! That Jabba cosplay is most excellent. Good links!

    1. I do think Iron Man was quite good. I don't follow Marvel as closely as I do DC, so I can't remember. I thought Captain America was the leader of the avengers, more so than Iron Man? Yes, I love the Jabba cosplay!

  7. The day we will finally see Black Widow movie shot and released should be international holiday or something. It's amazing it's still not even in pre production

  8. I wonder if Marvel is waiting to see how Agent Carter fairs on TV before greenlighting a female lead movie? I think it's ridiculous they haven't done that yet.

    1. I know. I'm so frustrated with Marvel. It's like come on. I have no doubt that a female-led movie will do well, if it's well written. Most of the female-led action films that have failed were subpar films. Period. They would have been subpar no matter who starred in them.

  9. Heh, market saturation about female superhero movies?? COME ON!! That is just a super lame excuse. Besides they can't really count Wonder Woman anyway as she's part of Batman vs Superman, and not having her own movie!
