FURY ROAD REVIEW [SPOILERS] - WHO KILLED THE WORLD?

Who killed the world?
The Five [To Immortan Joe]

Directed by George Miller
Starring TOM HARDY, CHARLIZE THERON, and NICHOLAS HOULT

That is the question posed by the wives (sex slaves) of the main bad guy, Immortan Joe (Hugh Keays-Byrne). For an over the top action movie, the movie poses a lot of important questions, which is what the 'Mad Max' films are known for. Director George Miller's apocalyptic vision of the future isn't good. The world in question is a desert world of scarce resources, falling satellites, and dwindling oil and water supplies. In Miller's vision, if you strip away the civility of a properly functioning society people will revert to their most brutal animalistic selves. The strong exploit the weak. This is the world of 'Mad Max,' who himself was the victim of terrible personal tragedy. In the original 'Mad Max,' Mad Max's family was brutally killed by marauders.

DISSECTING THE NEW SUPERGIRL TRAILER

If you've read my blog then you know that I'm the first person to applaud a new superhero television, especially a new superhero film or tv show with a female lead. In fact, now that I think of it, I don't believe we've had a female-led superhero television show since 'Wonder Woman,' which debuted in the 1975. 1975 as in 40 years ago. Forty years. Seriously 40..., not 30, not 20, not 10, but 40. That's like two generations. Admittedly there was the short lived series called 'Birds of Prey' on the WB in 2002, but that lasted for like a nanosecond. And to be fair, shows like 'Buffy,' 'Xena,' 'Alias,' have certainly taken on superhero-like qualities, but 'Wonder Woman' was truly the last female-led superhero television series.

WHAT'S OLD IS NEW, 1 MORE BLACK WIDOW DISS, NEW SHOWS, CANCELLATIONS, SHORTS, + LINKS, OH MY

X-Files Returns
What's old is new again. It seems like network television has completely run out of ideas, so now they're cannibalizing themselves. Shows like 'The Odd Couple,' 'Full House,' 'Twin Peaks,' and 'Coach.' Admittedly, I'm giddy that the 'X-Files' is returning for a limited six episode run. The fans have been begging for another film or limited series for years, in order to wash the taste out of their mouths of the second 'X-Files' film, 'I Want to Believe.' David Duchovny looks like hell, but Gillian Anderson has been keeping busy with multiple television roles, including one of the best procedural dramas I've seen in a while, 'The Fall.'

AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON REVIEW & THE "GIRL BOX"

Directed by JOSS WHEDON
Starring CHRIS EVANS, ROBERT DOWNEY, JR., CHRIS HEMSWORTH,
MARK RUFFALO, JEREMY RENNER, ELIZABETH OLSEN,
AARON TAYLOR-JOHNSON, and SCARLETT JOHANSSON

Hi friends. I'm a little rusty. I haven't written on my blog for a few months, so hopefully this review will make sense! I'm officially back in the blogosphere. I finished my classwork and other "things." Now I can focus on fun stuff! If you can imagine I hadn't been to the theater in a while, so 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' was the first film I had seen in a few months. Unfortunately, it was not worth the wait. I'm more of a DC Comics fan, but I really wanted to see this film, primarily for Elizabeth Olsen. She's awesome. She just is.
