10 Reasons to Love Tom Hiddleston

Over the course of three short years, Tom Hiddleston has quickly become a household name and a fan favorite. Arguably, he is almost as popular with the fans as Chris Hemsworth, at least in the scifi community. Perhaps you don't know who Tom Hiddleston is. Or if you do recognize him, you know him as "that guy from 'Thor' and you don't know what all the fuss is about? If this is the case, then this post is for you.

Easter Eggs in Dr. Who 50th Anniversary

WARNING: SPOILERS BELOW.

One enterprising 'Doctor Who' fan has compiled a list (from multiple Whovians) of not one, but 35 Easter eggs from 'Doctor Who's' much anticipated 50th anniversary episode. For those folks not up to date with their techie lingo, an "Easter egg" does not mean a hard boiled colored egg left in a garden for little children to find. In this instance an Easter egg is an intentional "inside joke" hidden within a movie, a video game, or in this case a television show.

Renaissance Art with Superheroes

Artist: Flash Daz
Source: Design.org

Superheroes are really "in" this year. Especially "in" art, modern or otherwise. Worth1000 held a Superhero ModRen photo-editing contest in which participants inserted modern superheroes into classical art pieces from the Renaissance. The mix of old with new is a beautiful contrast. Some of the entries are better than others. Meaning some are really good and some are?? The portrait above by Flash Daz won first place. The others are worth a look too. Clearly 'Wonder Woman' was a popular choice! All the more reason we need a Wonder Woman movie-- RIGHT NOW. Design.org has posted a sampling of finalists below:

'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' Episodes Ranked

James Marsters as Spike in 'Fool for Love,' Buffy the Vampire Slayer (Nov. 2000)
I don't necessarily agree with this Louis Peiztman's list on BuzzFeed, but I admire his tenacity. It takes a lot of time, effort, and hardcore "fanage" to rank all 144 episodes of 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer.' Seriously there were like seven seasons on two different networks. So I have to give props to him where props are due.

There Be Dragons

Mother of Dragons' by Yama Orce (YamaO) at Deviant Art
While channel surfing this weekend I happened upon a movie with a dragon in it. This made me think-- excluding animated films like 'Shrek' or 'How to Train your Dragon,' I haven't really seen that many movies or television shows with dragons.

This in of itself would not be unusual, but we are seriously up to our eyeballs in werewolves and vampires. Why not dragons? Dragons are an essential piece of the fantasy-genre, yet so few films and television shows have featured them. In years past, special effects artists relied on claymation, animatronics, miniatures, or some poor guy walking around in sweaty costume, but now with the prolific use of CGI, why aren't there more dragons?
